  • Ghost Corner Sauvignon Blanc is from Elim grapes which are taken to the Cederberg Private Cellar, one of the Sauvignon Blanc champions above, i.e. there isn’t a wine producer called Ghost Corner. Thelema’s reds are stronger than their whites, although they are included in the SA Chardonnay Classification. Ataraxia and Newton Johnson are also better known for their Chardonnay, much more so than for their Sauvignons. And as you say, Cape Atlantic hasn’t shone for some years now. Ditto The Berrio Sauvignon Blanc.

I find it weird that Ghost Corner and Thelema are not on your list of Sauvignon Blanc champions. It would be interesting to see a list of the top 20 Savvies from the annual FNB Sauv Blanc Top 10 competition over the years 2008 to 2017. What about the likes of Ataraxia and Newton Johnson. It is really weird that David Nieuwoudt’s Cape Atlantic (11th in FNB Sauvignon Blanc Top 10 about seven years ago) could be a lesser wine than Anura, and The Berrio Sauvignon Blanc is also not mentioned…
