Glen Carlou and Plaisir de Merle among Sommeliers’ Standouts

THE STAND OUT WINES in South Africa’s 2019 Sommeliers Selection feature a Glen Carlou Chardonnay and the Grand Plaisir red blend from the slopes of the Simonsberg in Paarl. Both are described as Elegant & Classy among the Listed Wines hailed in various categories that include Economically Savvy, Fresh & Crunchy, Voluptuous & Rich, Luscious & Aromatic.

The competition is (also) unique insofar as the selection panel goes – comprising judges who are all either qualified sommeliers or somehow engaged in the service, promotion and pairing of wine in the hospitality industry. See below for what the somms describe as Classy.
