Waterkloof voted top restaurant in Cape winelands – SA Eat Out Awards
WATERKLOOF on the Sir Lowry’s Pass Road outside Somerset West has been ranked No. 1 in South Africa at the 2018 Eat Out Mercedes-Benz Restaurant Awards. The restaurants on three other Cape wine farms were also included in the country’s Top 10, with five more nominated for consideration. The winners were decided by a team of foodies led by top chef Margot Janse, formerly of Le Quartier Français in Franschhoek, the other critics afforded anonymity in the interests of objectivity – they pay their bills and are concerned that should they be identified they might receive preferential treatment and better meals relative to other diners. Their favourite wine farm restaurants are highlighted below, and for the names of all the Eat Out Top 10 restaurants as well as the recipients of various chef awards, see here.
