OF ALL THE reds, whites, desserts and ports to receive good reviews in 2015, those honoured as ‘Uber Value’ on Top Wine SA are South Africa’s Best Value Wines with the Best Track Records at Under R100 a bottle. All top-rated – gold, double gold or platinum, 90 points or better out of 100, highly recommended, 5 Stars, trophy laureates, competition winners – and all qualifying for the 2015 SA Wine Classification on the basis of at least three vintages getting the nod from one or more of the top panels over the past 10 years. No sparkling, (still) rosé or unfortified dessert wines were eligible in this regard, with few top bubblies and unfortified desserts at under R100 a bottle, and no rosés other than bubblies included in the classification as yet.

The prices given below are those at the cellar door when surveyed during the year – or approximate retail prices in the case of wineries that are closed to the public. The areas and towns given after the names of the wines are where the cellars are located, which are sometimes different from where the grapes are grown.
