Brand marketing part and parcel of Cape Wine Auction, Franschhoek

“IN A SPECTACULAR show of generosity and opulence…” the 2017 Cape Wine Auction set a new record for the annual fund-raising effort by generating R22.3 million for 22 charities that focus on education and the lives of children in the winelands of South Africa. This year the bidding took place at Anthonij Rupert Wyne in Franschhoek, where estate owner Johann Rupert’s donation fetched the highest price paid for a lot that included Cape wine.

There was much on offer by way of exciting travel, luxury accommodation and limited-edition wines from around the world, with a bespoke experience in Napa Valley, California, hammered down for R3-million – the highest ever paid for a lot in the history of the auction, first held in 2014.

The following lots are those that involved brands of South African wine. Click here for the full results of the sales to date as well as information about the beneficiaries and sponsors.
