KANONKOP, Spier and Nederburg have placed top of their class in the 2017 International Wine & Spirit Competition, London – Kanonkop leading with three vintages of their Cabernet Sauvignon from the Simonsberg in Stellenbosch, Spier of Stellenbosch excelling with the same vintage of their Pinotage that triumphed at Mondial earlier in the year as well as at the 2016 Veritas Awards, and Nederburg of Paarl winning again with their sweet dessert, Edelkeur.

There were over 700 South African entries scored by the following judges: from the UK, Lindsay Oram (chair) and Peter Csizmmadia-Honigh; from South Africa, Andy Roediger, Charles Hopkins, Christine Rudman, Dave Hughes, De Wet Viljoen, Elsa Carstens, Elunda Basson, Francois Naudé, Ian Naudé, Johan Delport, Kristina Beuthner, Margaret Fundira, Razvan Macici, Duimpie Bayly, Winifred Bowman and Sandy Harper.
