Creation, Delheim and La Motte excel in Wine Tourism Challenge 2017

THE 2017 Drinks International Wine Tourism Challenge (UK) culminated with awards for Best Visitor Centre (Codorniu in Spain), Most Innovative Experience (Vineyard Tour Guide App at Yealands in New Zealand), Best Food and Wine Matching (Zonin’s Castello di Albola in Italy), Best Retail Experience (Gonzalez Byass in Spain), Best Promotional Body (Stellenbosch Wine Routes), Best Wine Event (Harvest and From Vine to Glass activity at Bodegas Miguel Torres in Spain) and Best Accommodation (joint winners Viña Casa Silva in Chile and The Yeatman in Portugal). South Africa’s top entries as follows:

CREATION WINES on the Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge outside Hermanus highly commended for their innovative wine and food matching experience – Wine by Degrees, Tapas Pairing, Wine & Cooking, Paradoxical Wine & Chocolate Pairing, Charcuterie Pairing, Cheese Pairing.

DELHEIM in the Simonsberg foothills of Stellenbosch highly commended for their Fungi Forage in June/July, an event that includes a lecture on mushroom identification, a wild mushroom hunt and a mushroom-themed three-course lunch paired with Delheim wines.

LA MOTTE in Franschhoek highly commended for their food and wine matching: “A brilliant place for tasting the most appropriate wine with a fantastic selection of foods.”

STELLENBOSCH WINE ROUTES judged Best Promotional Body: “Capturing the South African mood. Very in touch with what people coming there are looking for. Very educational.”
