KWV, Eagles’ Nest, Kanonkop and Rustenberg among stand-outs at Veritas 2015

Veritas Awards medals and white wine glasses - JWWhite3 (cropped)KWV was by far the most successful producer overall at the 2015 Veritas Awards, with double gold medals awarded for their leading Cape Blend, Abraham Perold Tributum 2013, their Tawny port and four wines in The Mentors range – plus eight gold medals presented for various other reds, whites and fortified wines in the KWV portfolio.

Nederburg and Spier were also very successful, each winning a couple of double golds as well as a whole lot of gold medals, and the following were among the stand-out wines on show that have also been particularly well received by other top panels of judges tasting blind, labels out of sight:

Eagles’ Nest Shiraz 2012 – the double gold medal at Veritas follows a trophy won at Michelangelo, inclusion among the Top 20 at the Shiraz SA Challenge, gold at the Decanter Awards and silvers at the Trophy Wine Show and International Wine & Spirit Competition

Kanonkop Pinotage 2012 – winner of a trophy at the International Wine & Spirit Competition and inclusion among the Absa Top 10 Pinotage selection before achieving double gold at Veritas

Rustenberg Peter Barlow Cabernet Sauvignon 2009 – the double gold medal at Veritas follows a trophy for the most successful producer at the Trophy Wine Show and 5 Stars on Winemag.co.za (Rustenberg’s Five Soldiers Chardonnay 2012 was also a Trophy Wine Show class winner, a gold medal winner at the Michelangelo Awards and a multiple silver medal laureate before winning double gold at Veritas)
