The only other South African gold medallist was the 2010 Eminence, and the only other South African wine to earn a medal of any sort in the competition was the Orange River Cellars Red Muscadel 2013, which won silver.

This follows the 2015 Muskadel SA Awards a couple of months earlier which saw the following wines honoured with gold medals: Bon Courage Red Muscadel 2014, Boplaas Heritage Collection White Muscadel 2011, De Wet White Muscadel 2013, Landzicht Red Muscadel 2014, Montagu Cellar Red Muscadel 2014, Orange River Cellars Red Muscadel 2013, Oude Rust Red Muscadel 2014 (Mooiuitsig) and Wonderfontein White Muscadel 2012.

Whereas Nederburg Eminence is an auction wine, the Orange River Cellars Red Muscadel 2013 was selling at the cellar door for R47 a bottle. See here for more info regarding Muscats-du-Monde, and click here for all the top ratings of SA dessert wines of late and the prices of these sweets.
