Festival time in South Africa’s Port Capital: 14 to 17 June

BOPLAAS, De Krans and TTT Cellar are among THE wineries to head for during the next few days if you fancy a drive through the Karoo, wine that’ll warm the heart and fine hospitality on the occasion of the annual Calitzdorp Port & Wine Festival: www.portwinefestival.co.za.
The festival follows the announcement of the 2013 Cape Port Challenge in which Boplaas won seven of the 12 gold medals presented, with De Krans and TTT sharing the balance of the spoils with Groot Constantia and Landskroon (see below for details of the results).
Such was Boplaas’s dominance at the podium that eyebrows were raised and questions fired, but it has been confirmed that most of the top guns in the SA port industry took part in the competition which saw 49 wines of various styles on the tasting bench. The victories were achieved fair and square!
